The indications for facelift

Facelifting, neckliftingNowadays, the surgery to eliminate the negative age-related changes of the face and neck are one of the most high-demanded. The competition for attractive appearance is becoming more widespread in the life of urban society. A young and beautiful look is one of the most important components of success in life.

Anatomical aspects of the facelifting

By definition, the zygomatic muscle and orbicularis oculi muscle are parts of the structure of the superficial muscular aponeurotic system (SMAS). In fact, these muscles are not included in the structure of the graft and are a bottom of the dissection pocket. Zygomatic graft contains fibrosis zygomatic fat and a muscular structure of the lower-lateral sector of the eye circular muscles, but not the whole SMAS surface as commonly cited. The reliability of the graft top is provided with a plurality of transverse connective cords and bands, which are cut during the mobilization of the graft. This matrix determines the individual characteristics of the graft. Reliability of its upper part depends on the hardness and elasticity of connective tissue framework.

Facelifting. The surgery

Facelifting, necklifting The facelifting surgery is performed under general anesthesia and takes 2.5-4 hours. Many skin incisions of different length and shape are used, which contribute to the solution of certain aesthetic problems, taking into account the anatomical aspects.

Depending on the age of the patient, the characteristics of bone support, the degree of tissue mobility and the fragmentation of individual structural elements, there are different ways of elevation of face soft tissue structures. But still, in the majority of clinical cases, the traditional SMAS plasty methods are used, which proved themselves as the most effective and safe ones. Dozens of modifications of the annular facelift surgery are proposed, most of which have their authors and titles, but almost all of them are based on similar principles. Now these surgeries are used frequently in aesthetic facial surgery.

Over the years, the surgical technique of working with SMAS has passed a number of perfection stages. Modern facelifting tactics is an enhanced mobilization of the graft, which is breaking the boundaries of connective tissue adherence between the lateral and medial sections of the face. In-depth sub-SMAS dissection with cutting of all the supporting bands (extended SMAS technique) has opened a whole new perspective in facial surgery. Wide plane mobilization allows to rotate the graft as a whole. Stretching and cutting of its structure makes it possible to place the SMAS sectors on several differing optimal vectors.

Often, the annular facelifting and necklifting is not limited to fixing the band and skin grafting only. If a particular area has excess fat deposits, they are removed through liposuction.

Post operation period

If you decide to make a facelifting, remember that the rehabilitation after a deep lifting takes about one month, and skin numbness and the final formation of scars takes up to 6-8 months. After the operation, the patient remains in the hospital under the supervision of medical staff for about 24 - 48 hours. Next, the patient stays at home, and visits the clinic for bandaging and passing a special rehabilitation course periodically. The swelling of the face, the induration on the cheeks sides, mild pain and bruises are present for 2 weeks. The sutures dissolve on their own within 10 - 12 days.
