For most people the age-related changes become visible after 35-40 years. And of course, these changes affect the most moving parts of the face with the thinnest skin. The overhang of the skin in the upper eyelid areas, small skin folds in the area of arcula outer edge, sometimes overlapping into the temporal area, a clear visualization of the arcula lower edge, significant contouring of fat on the lower eyelid and depression (ptosis) of the outer edge of the eye may be present.
The plastic surgery using the most popular procedure – the blepharoplasty (the eyelid surgery) – is ready to aid those people who wish to deceive the inexorable nature. By using this surgery, the periorbital area can be rejuvenated effectively.
Preparation for the procedure
All plastic surgery is being performed routinely. First a consultation is provided, during which the amount of the planned surgical manipulation and the presence of the patient’s contraindications are determined; then the blepharoplasty date is appointed. The patient undergoes the tests. Immediately before the manipulation a contract between the patient and the clinic is negotiated.
The procedure
Before the surgery, the intramuscular injection with anesthetics and sedatives is administered to the patient. This allows to undergo surgery under local anesthesia safely.
Blepharoplasty is performed by making an incision in the palpebral furrow on the upper eyelid, and slightly away from the lower edge of the lashes on the lower eyelid. All the necessary manipulations on deep structures are made through these incisions. First of all, it is a dosed resection of hyperinflate muscle, excision of prolapse arcula fat, strengthening or bringing down the arcula septum. The final stage in eyelid surgery is the excision of excess skin and suturing of the incisions with intradermal sutures.
Post operation period
The patient remains in the clinic for a few hours after blepharoplasty. For the first days the patient may experience discomfort in the operated area, which is quickly eliminated when taking analgesics. With every passing day the intumescence, the swelling and the bruising of the eyelids become smaller. Sutures are removed after 4-5 days. Final recovery period takes up to several weeks. During this time the swelling and infiltration of tissues completely passes and skin scars become imperceptible.
